- ELIGIBILITY: All contestants must present a current USA Wrestling competitor’s membership card at check-in. Membership cards should be acquired from the State Chairperson or State Membership Director of the contestant’s state of residence, but will be available for purchase at registration for $30.00. Secondary sports accident insurance is provided as a benefit of membership. No pre-qualification required. Only wrestlers who meet the U.S. citizenship requirements necessary for representing the USA in the World or Olympic Championships are eligible to participate in this event. Athlete MUST be a U.S. citizen prior to the start of this event.
- MEN'S SENIOR DIVISION (Freestyle & Greco-Roman): Only wrestlers born in 1988 or before are eligible to compete. However, wrestlers born in 1989-90 will be eligible if they provide a written statement from a medical professional, on his/her printed stationary, attesting that the athlete is of sufficient physical and emotional maturity to participate at this level. Weight divisions are 55kg, 60kg, 66kg, 74kg, 84kg, 96kg, and 120kg. All weigh-ins for the Senior divisions will be conducted in kilograms. 1 kilogram = 2.2046 lbs. COMPETITORS WILL ONLY BE ELIGIBLE TO WRESTLE IN ONE WEIGHT CLASS/PER STYLE. Registration
- MEN'S SENIOR DIVISION COMPETITION PROCEDURES
- All athletes must register online at www.lvsports.org by the registration deadline on Tuesday, April 22nd at 9:00 am (Pacific Standard Time)
- In line with the new competition procedures established for the 2008 Freestyle & Greco-Roman Senior National Championships, eight (8) athletes will receive automatic qualification to the U.S. National Championships (see schedule for day and time). These athletes will be determined by a selection and seeding committee as established by the Federation of Clubs.
- Athletes not receiving automatic qualification must compete in a “Qualification Tournament”. From this “Qualification Tournament,” eight (8) athletes will advance to the U.S. National Championships and paired according to the procedures as listed below to determine the 2008 Men’s Freestyle & Greco-Roman National Champion.
- In weight categories with nineteen (19) or less athletes registered, all participants earn automatic advancement to the U.S. National Championships, with no “Qualification Tournament” needed for advancement.
- Determination of top eight (8) athletes receiving automatic qualification to the U.S. National Championships
- The selection and seeding committee will be determined by the Federation of Clubs.
- Selection and seeding committee will meet via conference call upon the close of registration on Tuesday, April 22nd.
- Current National Team athletes earn automatic qualification in the top eight (8) if registered at the same weight and style they hold National Team status.
- Top place finisher from the 2008 Dave Schultz Memorial International (DSMI) not already qualified will also earn automatic qualification in the top eight (8) --- athlete must have placed in top four (4) at the DSMI.
- The eight (8) athletes that receive automatic qualification to the U.S. National Championships will be posted at www.lvsports.org and www.TheMat.com by 9:00 pm (PST) on Tuesday, April 22nd.
- The U.S. Greco-Roman National “Qualification Tournament” (Thursday, April 24th)
- All athletes NOT receiving automatic advancement to the U.S. National Championships (as listed at www.lvsports.org and/or www.TheMat.com) MUST compete in the “Qualification Tournament” on Thursday, April 24th.
- The “Qualification Tournament” will be line bracket, double-elimination.
- Competition will continue until semi-finalists have been determined in both the championship and consolation brackets. Competition will end once these eight (8) individuals have been determined.
- These eight (8) individuals will advance to the U.S. National Championships and paired with the top eight (8) individuals that were selected for automatic qualification.
- The U.S. Greco-Roman National Championships (Friday, April 25th)
- The U.S. National Championships will be line bracket, double-elimination; wrestle back to 7th place --- all weight classes completed in one day.
- The tournament will include the eight (8) automatic qualifiers as well as the eight (8) athletes that qualified through the Friday “Qualification Tournament” AND all athletes for weight categories with nineteen (19) or less athletes registered.
- No additional athletes will be brought out of the “Qualification Tournament” if any of the eight (8) athletes selected by the committee does not participate.
- The selection and seeding committee, as established by the Federation of Clubs, will seed as follows; Freestyle: four (4) to eight (8) individuals in each weight category, Greco-Roman: four (4) individuals in each weight category.
- The seeded athletes will be separated and placed into the appropriate brackets slots.
- All other athletes will be randomly drawn into the remaining available slots. If there are any byes, they will be placed evenly and randomly in the brackets.
- The U.S. Freestyle National “Qualification Tournament” (Friday, April 25th)
- All athletes NOT receiving automatic advancement to the U.S. National Championships (as listed at www.lvsports.org and/or www.TheMat.com) MUST compete in the “Qualification Tournament” on Friday, April 25th.
- The “Qualification Tournament” will be line bracket, double-elimination.
- Competition will continue until semi-finalists have been determined in both the championship and consolation brackets. Competition will end once these eight (8) individuals have been determined.

- The U.S. National Championships will be line bracket, double-elimination; wrestle back to 7th place --- all weight classes completed in one day.
- The tournament will include the eight (8) automatic qualifiers as well as the eight (8) athletes that qualified through the Friday “Qualification Tournament” AND all athletes for weight categories with nineteen (19) or less athletes registered.

- MEN'S SENIOR DIVISION WEIGH-IN PROCEDURES: Wrestlers competing in the Men’s Senior (Freestyle & Greco-Roman) divisions:
- MUST weigh-in wearing a COMPETITION SINGLET (Modified singlets will not be allowed for weigh-ins).
- Can only wrestle in one weight class/per style.
- Athletes competing in the “Qualification Tournament”
- WILL be allowed to determine the weight category they will be competing in at the specific styles weigh-in at 3:00 pm.
- WILL weigh-in at SCRATCH WEIGHT to compete in the “Qualification Tournament”.
- Athletes qualifying for the U.S. National Championships through the “Qualification Tournament”
- WILL receive a two (2) kilogram weight allowance;
- CANNOT weigh-in prior to the completion of his weight category;
- CAN weigh in immediately after the completion of his weight category IF 3:30 pm or later;
- MUST weigh in within three (3) hours after the completion of his weight category.
- Any weight class that is completed prior to 1:00 pm MUST weigh in from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
- MUST make the weight they wrestled in at the qualifying tournament (with a two (2) kilogram weight allowance). Failure to make this weight will result in disqualification from the tournament.
- The top eight (8) athletes earning automatic qualification to the U.S. National Championships:
- MUST weigh in at scratch weight from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm on the day your style weighs-in.
- MUST make their registered weight class and CANNOT change weight categories at the time of the scheduled weigh-in. Failure to make the registered weight class will result in disqualification from the tournament.
- WOMEN'S SENIOR DIVISION: Only wrestlers born in 1988 or before are eligible to compete. However, wrestlers born in 1989-1991 will be eligible if they provide a written statement from a medical professional, on his/her stationary, attesting that the athlete is of sufficient physical and emotional maturity to participate at this level. Weight divisions are 48kg, 51kg, 55kg, 59kg, 63kg, 67kg, and 72kg. . All weigh-ins for the Senior divisions will be conducted in kilograms. 1 kilogram = 2.2046 lbs. COMPETITORS WILL ONLY BE ELIGIBLE TO WRESTLE IN ONE WEIGHT CLASS/PER STYLE.
- WOMEN'S SENIOR DIVISION COMPETITION PROCEDURES
- All athletes must register online at www.lvsports.org by the registration deadline on Tuesday, April 22nd at 9:00 am (Pacific Standard Time)
- The Women’s U.S. National Championships will be a line bracket, double-elimination tournament; wrestle back to 7th place --- all weight classes completed in one day. Competition will take place on Thursday, April 24th.
- The seeding committee, as established by the Federation of Clubs, will seed four (4) individuals in each weight category. The seeding will take place after the close of registration on Tuesday, April 22nd with seeds posted at www.themat.com and www.lvsports.orgat 9:00 pm (Pacific Standard Time). Registration
- WOMEN'S SENIOR DIVISION WEIGH-IN PROCEDURES: Wrestlers competing in the Women’s Senior Freestyle division:
- MUST weigh-in wearing a COMPETITION SINGLET (Modified singlets will not be allowed for weigh-ins).
- Can only wrestle in one weight class
- MUST weigh in on Wednesday, April 23rd from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
- NO weight allowance will be given.

- REGISTRATION: ALL ATHLETES, IN ALL DIVISIONS, MUST REGISTER ON-LINE BEFORE TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2008 AT 9:00 AM (Pacific Standard Time). There will be no on-site or late registration --- NO EXCEPTIONS. Competitors in the Senior divisions are only eligible to wrestle in one weight class/per style. Registration

- SENIOR CLUB ENTRIES: Only Senior level clubs competing for team awards are required to register for the team competition. Each competing club must submit a $50.00 team entry fee/per style along with the team roster at the seeding meeting immediately following weigh-ins.
- INFECTIOUS SKIN SCREENING: Athletes must be present in a COMPETITION SINGLET and must submit to a skin disease screening prior to weigh-ins. The chief medical officer has full authority, without appeal, in determining the eligibility of an athlete to compete. See schedule for medical check times.
- INDIVIDUAL AWARDS: In the Senior divisions, attractive wooden plaques will be presented to the top eight (8) place winners in each style, in each weight class. Outstanding Wrestler awards will be presented in each style.
- TEAM AWARDS: In both the men's and women's competition, attractive wooden plaques will be presented to the top two (2) team place winners in each division, in each style. There are two divisions in both the men's and women's competition:
- Division I is open to all clubs that enter 7 or more wrestlers/per style with each registered club member eligible to score points.
- Division II is open to all clubs that enter 7 or less wrestlers/per style. All clubs, regardless of division, must designate their point getters at the seeding meeting. SCORING: Points are scored 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for the top 8 place winners in each weight class.
- RULES: The rules of FILA, with current USA Wrestling modifications where applicable, will govern the event.
- UNIFORMS: Men's Senior division: Red and blue singlets, or red/blue reversible singlets with under briefs are required. Women's division: A collegiate or women's singlet is required and a sleeveless sport top is to be worn under the singlet (NO T-SHIRTS).
- PAIRINGS: In all Senior divisions, there will be a blind computer draw after the initial weigh-in. A standard, seeded double-elimination line bracket, with consolation wrestle-backs to 3rd, 5th and 7th place will be used. Wrestlers from the same club will be separated when possible. (NOTE: Wrestlers from the same club must use the same club name or abbreviation during registration in order to insure proper separation.)
- INJURIES: In the event of injury or illness, NO contestant will be permitted to continue the competition without approval of the Chief Medical Officer, whose decision is final and not subject to appeal.
- COACHING: For all divisions, only NCEP Certified coaches with a current USA Wrestling Coaches Membership are entitled to free admission. Coaches must report to the “Coaches Registration” counter (located immediately outside the venue entrance) with photo identification, current USA Wrestling Coaches Membership card and NCEP Certification card to receive proper credentialing. COACHES WILL NOT BE PERMITTED IN THE CORNER OF A MAT WITHOUT A PROPER CREDENTIAL.
- VETERANS and SENIOR DIVISION COACHES FLOOR PASS: Floor passes may be purchased for $50, in addition to the general admission cost, for those coaches that do not have both the USAW & NCEP certification card. THIS FLOOR PASS IS GOOD FOR VETERAN AND SENIOR COMPETITION ONLY.
